Women Education

Women education is always remain the burning issue in eastern society especially in Pakistan. And the situation is mainly alarming in rural areas due to social and cultural obstacles. One of the most awful sides is that in some places, particularly northern tribal areas, the education of girls is strictly prohibited on religious grounds. . This is an uncultured misinterpretation of Islam, which like all religions urges men and women to acquire education. The literacy rate for women in tribal areas is just as low as 7.5% which is due to the conservative thinking of the tribal people of Pakistan which are against the modern education and very much reserve for their women and ladies.

Unfortunately the portrait of literacy in Pakistan is grey. Although successive governments have announced various programs to promote literacy, especially among women, they have been unable to transform their words into action because of various political, social and cultural hindrances. And now society is debating on the topic that whether the education made women responsible towards her responsibilities regarding her domestic life? Do the education play major and effective role in her life? Or because of education women rebels against cultural norms and she does not remain household material which she should be as eastern culture urges her to be.

And from the same point of view Jinnah Debating Society of Jinnah University arranged a debate competition on the topic that "biwi taleem yafta achi ya bena taleem yafta”. But these types of debates in auditoriums do not be much effective and helpful in making the society prosperous until we all work for that with all our heart and soul. If we want to develop a better society we first have to educate our women.
